Petitioner Joseph R. Brown requests a divorce from his wife Margarite Brown. Joseph Brown states that for many years he has had a relationship with the Sioux, both as a trader and as a resident among them. He states that his wife is of Chippewa descent. He states that now the Sioux and Chippewa are at war with each other, it is not safe for him and his wife to remain married.
