Making It Up: Photographic Fictions (2018) Marta Weiss McBean staged surrealistic scenes in his studio rather than creating them with darkroom manipulation. To make this portrait of actress Diana Churchill, he built an elaborate set with a hole through which the actress could insert her head. He photographed several models in this manner.
