Methodology

I used Dublin Core as the base metadata schema and incorporated controlled vocabularies such as AAT and VRA.

Identifier: The accession/identification number given to the piece by its current owner.

Title: Title of the artwork, cited directly from collecting institutions/ galleries/ artist’s website.

Date: Year when the artwork was made, cited directly from collecting institutions/ galleries/ artist’s website.

Subject: Significant themes and subjects explored by the piece, as defined by the author of this collection.

Artist (DC: Creator, VRA: designer): Name of the artist/designer, cited directly from collecting institutions/ galleries/ artist’s website.

Medium: Listing the medium used by the artist, cited directly from collecting institutions/ galleries/ artist’s website.

Format (DC: Dimensions): The file format, physical medium, or dimensions of the resource.

Source: Where the image and data were cited from, including the URL/URI.

Rights: The organization or person who holds the rights to the artwork.
