This collection comprises citizen petitions written to the legislatures of the Wisconsin Territory and later the State of Wisconsin, from 1836 to 1891. At the time, petitions were the only direct means for citizens to communicate with the government. These petitions reveal how early settlers took steps to legislate marital conduct and formalize family law legal processes.

Through the use of a collection of artworks by a select group of Caribbean Contemporary artists, my Omeka S project seeks to investigate the interconnected narratives that shape artistic production across Caribbean regions. Moving beyond the limitations of geographic boundaries, it focuses on the ways personal experience, history and culture are mapped through themes of identity, memory, migration and traditions in an attempt to reveal their shared visual language and links the relational undercurrent of diasporic perspectives.
