description (VRA Ontology)
"Suspended ballplayer in a typical game posture. His attire consists of a wide leather skirt, a yoke or protective belt, as well as wide bracelets that also served to protect his arms. The character recreates the exact moment when the player drops to his left knee, protected by a thick knee pad; his raised arms allow him to propel the ball with his left side and achieve some balance with his body. As in this modality of the game, the ball could not be touched with the hands or the feet, so in this position the players always achieved the momentum of the ball. On his head stands out a cap or conical base on which the headdress was adjusted; For his part, the bulky physique of the character is also outstanding. The piece was located during the excavations carried out by INAH in 1964, as part of the Burial 39 offering."
