The city of Chefchaouen, Morocco is packed with building painted in bright blue pigment. This was not the case when Chefchaouen was founded, but in the 1930's a large influx of Jews escaping the Nazi regime took refuge in Morocco and brought with them the tradition of painting buildings blue.
