The wonderful beauty of mountains across North and South America.
There have been many artists over the years that have appreciated the mountains across the Americas enough to try and share it with the world. Here we only have a handful of them, but they are among the best. Many of them focus on the Rocky Mountains in the United States, but those are not the only mountains that are breathtakingly beautiful.
Many of the works I selected came from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, but some others also came from SFMoMA, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Denver Art Museum. I picked different mediums from paintings to drawings to photographs. The time period is more limited, focusing on nineteenth and twentieth century works.
I choose the subject of mountains because I love mountains. I was born in a mountainous city in South America, and I wanted to share my love of mountains. I also decided to focus on both North and South America because I wanted to share one of my favorite paintings, Heart of the Andes that hangs in one of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's galleries.
