About

The objects on my mantel come from many different places, from many different people. Some I bought, some are gifts, some are inherited. Walter Benjamin notes that it isn't just ourselves that give objects meaning, but the environment we place them in. So I've placed them on a mantle, in Greenpoint, in New York, in America, where they've all come together, like one big family.

The objects are broken up into books, art, and objects. Books are self evident, but splitting art and object was subjective. Objects tend to be items that have practical use, a camera, or an incense holder. Art is something created out of aesthetic.

This is an effort to catalog where I've lived the past three years, in preperation of moving in the Fall. I'll probably only continue to acquire useless items, so hopefully I'll come across a bigger mantel next time.
