- this head comes from the Longmen Caves in Henan province, eastern China; In the first half of the 20th century, antique dealers colluded with foreigners, leading to the extensive looting and vandalism of the Longmen Grottoes. This stone head of Buddha is one of the artifacts stolen during that period.
