Analysis
A performative exposure to society reflecting on women who experience violence and control within the dynamics of looking and bodily autonomy;
(21st century) In Rhythm 0, Abramović lets the audience interact with her using different objects. At first, people only watch, but soon some become aggressive. This shift shows how simply looking can turn into physical control. The performance challenges the idea that watching is harmless and instead shows how it can lead to violence against women. It also highlights how women are often treated as objects to be used or manipulated. Through this work, Abramović shows the risks that come with unchecked spectatorship.
