Aftermath of Fire 1975
The Vander Ende-Onderdonk House was owned and used as office space by various companies from the 1940s onwards. The last company to own the property abandoned the house and stopped paying their taxes. The property was seized by New York City and there was talk of demolishing the house. Locals came together to save the house from demolition and formed the Greater Ridgewood Historical Society. Unfortunately, in 1975, a devastating fire destroyed the majority of the Vander Ende-Onderdonk House. The items below depict the aftermath of the 1975 fire and the damages the house endured.
